Spring Season 2010 Anime Shows
We’re barely halfway through the winter season and somehow the list for the Spring anime is already up…as you can see above…but it doesn’t seems like any of the shows are interesting…And why the hell did they make “Iron Man” an anime? This is a boring season overall. Well, apart from Angels Beats…
I’ll be following the chart from left to right so here goes…
Senkou no Night Raid:
Studio: A-1 Pictures (So-Ra-No-Wo-To, Fairy Tail, Kannagi)
Trailer: Youtube
Official Website: Here
Air Date: April 2010
Synopsis:
A spy action anime taking place in Shanghai in 1931. (Via MAL)
Etto…umm…I really don’t know what to say about this. The animation looks somewhat decent. But I’ve never been much of a historical kind of person and so I don’t particularly enjoy the historical anime all that much. It just isn’t my style, you know? And somehow my brother said that Indiana Jones was alive during that time…what does that have to do with anything?!
Will I Review This?
No
Iron Man:
Studio: Madhouse Marvel (Allison & Lillia, Cardcaptor Sakura, Chaos;Head)
Trailer: Youtube
Official Website: I can’t…find it.
Air Date: April 2010
Synopsis:
Marvel Comics has formally announced a partnership with Tokyo based anime production studio Madhouse to develop four 12 episode anime television series featuring Marvel super hero characters. The first series, which will feature Iron Man and Wolverine, among other characters, will premier on the Animax network in early 2010. (Via MAL)
What the *beep*?! Somehow they turned an innocent comic book (well, not really innocent, more like borderline violence) into an anime?! Are people in Japan running out of ideas for anime or something? Because I feel like the anime world around us is slowly and gradually crashing into oblivion and quickly running out of ideas. Madhouse studio is truly a madhouse isn’t it?…
Will I Review This?
No way in hell. I’d rather cut finger off than watch this.
Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei
Studio: Madhouse (Allison & Lillia, Cardcaptor Sakura, Chaos;Head)
Trailer: None
Official Website: None
Air Date: April 2010
Synopsis:
The 2005 novel follows a nameless protagonist who is a third-year college student. The protagonist looks back at the earlier years of his college life and his adventures with a particular (club). (Via ANN)
Okay, I’m relying solely on the synopsis for now. I wish they’d somehow give a name to the protagonist. I mean, I can’t see how a show can develop (books apply as well, excluding research books and dictionaries) even the tiniest spark of a plot without the mention of a character’s name. I just can’t see how one can succeed without a main character’s name…But even so, I wanna see what happens, so I might watch it out of boredom. Just looking at the anime this season, I don’t think I can really find anything interesting this season to watch.
Will I Review This?
There’s a puny chance that I will review this. I do mean puny…
Arakawa Under the Bridge:
Studio: SHAFT (Bakemonogatari, Hidamari Sketch, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei)
Official Website: Here
Trailer: Apparently it’s on the official website…
Air Date: April 2010
Synopsis:
The story is about the strange courtship of a successful executive in life called Kou and a mysterious woman called Nino who lives under a bridge. It all begins when Kou almost drowns in a river but is saved by Nino. For saving his life, Kou fulfills Nino’s desire to have a boyfriend. Thus, Kou becomes her boyfriend, but has to live with her under the bridge…
Is the man a pedophile? Or are girls that are at the legal age to marry that short? *cough cough* So Nino wants a boyfriend…Kou, are you a stupid man? You just become the boyfriend of a girl you just met? What kind of guy does that?! But since I’m not a fan of the romance genre I seriously will not watch this…
Will I Review This?
No.
Rainbow – Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin
I’m not bothering to actually write the preview for this. Just…no. I call this a fail and I will neither review nor watch it. Just…no. And it was bad enough to even type the title in…
Saraiya Goyou:
Studio: Manglobe (Seiken no Blacksmith, Samurai Champloo, Michiko to Hatchin)
Trailer: Can’t find any…
Official Website: Here
Air Date: April 2010
Synopsis:
Masterless samurai Akitsu Masanosuke is a skilled and loyal swordsman, but his naïve, diffident nature has time and again caused him to be let go by the lords who have employed him. Hungry and desperate, he becomes a bodyguard for Yaichi, the charismatic leader of a gang called “Five Leaves.” Although disturbed by the gang’s sinister activities, Masa begins to suspect that Yaichi’s motivations are not what they seem. And despite his misgivings, the deeper he’s drawn into the world of the Five Leaves, the more he finds himself fascinated by these devious, mysterious outlaws. (Via MangaUpdates)
I don’t know…the word “samurai” reminds me of Samurai Champloo. But anyways I’m not so impressed with this. And why would you be attracted to devious outlaws? This season is looking bleak…very, very bleak…
Will I Review This?
Ugh…no. I’m feeling the same sort of fatigue that I had from writing the Winter 2009/2010 anime preview…only I’m not even halfway through the list…
Heroman:
Someone please…kill me. I can’t stand this season?! What is with the violence uprising this season?! Rainbow-Nishiba whatever was about outlaws, Senkou no Night Raid is about spies, Saraiya Goyou is about samurais, and the worst of them all, Heroman is about a guy named Joey who finds a giant robot and defeats evil and aliens?! And how the hell does a stinkin’ toy robot turn into something called “Heroman”?! Someone…just…rid me of this misery…please. I’m not wasting my time doing this anymore! Once I feel like it, I’ll show an anime preview and it’s studio and whatnot but only if that anime is worthwhile or I just feel like showing it. I’ll still be showing titles of course, but no in-depth stuff anymore! It’s making my head spin…
Ookiku Furikabatte Season 2:
Sounds like a whole ton of corny and sappy moments. Like sap put on corn. I never was a fan of sports. I never will be. I stink at sports as well and instead let my unhealthy anger out on the floor. And please don’t put two “o”’s together like that. It reminds me of Ookami Kakushi…
Angel Beats!:
Studio: PA Works(Canaan, True Tears)
Official Website: Here
Trailer: Here
Air Date: April 2010
Synopsis:
In a world after death, angels fight for their fate and their future. Yuri, the leader of the Shinda Sekai Sensen, rebels against the god who destined her to have an unreasonable life. On the other hand, Tenshi, the chairperson of the student council for the world after death, battles against the SSS members. SSS members utilize armed weaponry to battle it out against the angels harnessing supernatural powers. (Via MAL)
This is probably the most interesting anime this season. A diamond in the rough, that’s what I’d like to call it. At first I was a bit hesitant in reviewing it. It seemed like just another random romance show that appeared out of nowhere. Then I found out it was by the same people who made True Tears and Canaan, both amazing shows, so I decided to watch it. True Tears was amazing and Canaan has superior animation quality(and violence which I approved of in the show). Hopefully, it’s as good as both of them. But lol…SSS…SOS…hehe
Will I Review This?
Yes! After this point, it gets slightly more interesting, but then goes back down…
Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou:
Studio: Artland (Hakushaku to Yousei, Katekyoushi Hitman Reborn, Mushishi)
Trailer & Official Website: Here
Air Date: April 2010
Synopsis:
The wraparound jacket band on the seventh volume of Shōtarō Mizuki’s Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaō magical fantasy romance novel series has announced that an anime adaptation is in the works. The story of “love, magic, and battles” revolves around Akuto Sai, a boy who aims to become part of his country’s highest order of magicians and contribute to society as one of its clergy. On the day he is admitted into the Constan Magical Academy, his aptitude test predicts the following: “Future Occupation … Devil King.” Thus begins his severe school life in which he is resented by his studious female class head, desired by a girl with mysterious powers, and guarded by a beautiful female android. (Via ANN)
Well, it seems good enough for me. Personally, I don’t mind fanservice and ecchi even the slightest bit which is why I hate pure love. Or it’s because of something else…the word “love” was a horrible word for me to swallow when I was younger and now even. But you know, Hakushaku to Yousei was okay. I could live through that, since it was reverse-harem, and I personally love reverse-harem. I have a twisted mind…but Katekyoushi Hitman was great for me to watch (yeah, I know, I’m so weird, I actually watched it!), and Mushishi wa wonderful. So I won’t regret watching even a few seconds of Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou.
Will I Review This?
Yes! (Even if you hate fanservice to the extremes! Yeah! And if you somehow survived through Kampfer, don’t even try to say, “But this is too much fanservice!” because Kampfer had tons of ecchi and you lived through it! So don’t you dare complain!)
Working!!:
Studio: A-1 Pictures (Fairy Tail, Sora no Woto, Kuroshitsuji)
Official Website: Here
Trailer: Here
Air Date: April 2010
Synopsis:
Set in a family restaurant in Hokkaido, the northern prefecture of Japan, 16 year old high school student Takanashi Souta works part-time along with his strange co-workers: Taneshima Popura, a high school girl who’s a year older than Souta who’s easily mistaken for a elementary/middle schooler, and Shirafuji Kyoko, the 28-year old store manager who doesn’t bother to do any work at all. (Via MAL)
Well, I was actually looking forward to this when I first saw it on the Notcliche website. I love slice of life anime, so I’m obviously going to review this. And it seems even a little bit better than the bleakness of the rest of the season…that also includes the art and animation. A-1 is going crazy this season…I swear…
Will I Review This?
Yes!
Er…I’m skipping the next one…
Hetalia Axis Powers Third Season:
I probably won’t review this at all. No matter how much I love it, I haven’t even finished the first season…
Ring ni Kakero 1 Shadow:
What the hell?! No, the art looks like it’s from the 1980’s or something!
Major Six Season:
There was a first season…?
B Gata H Kei:
*snicker*…Oh, this is hilarious… I just have to show you guys this. Here’s the synopsis:
Yamada is a virgin high school student who dreams of having 100 casual sex partners. However, she ends up targeting and pursuing only one boy. (Via ANN)
I have to laugh my head off at this. I first thought the main character was a boy and was going after other guys, but then I found out it was a girl…but her “goal” to have 100 “casual sex partners” is just too funny. I’m laughing my heart out right now…Maybe I just have a sick sense of humor…But this sounds like Chu-Bra for some reason…
Kaichou wa Maid-sama!:
I read the manga…found out that the main girl’s blush was frustratingly annoying…and then stopped. I don’t like romance. Never will. I didn’t think it had redeeming qualities. THE END.
Hakuouki: Shisengumi Kitan:
I looked around google for this after I couldn’t find it on MAL..found it was a PS2 game…saw the guys…reverse-harem…why am I writing in little snippets…? So I figured it was worth reviewing…
Will I Review This?
Sure…
Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitte Iru
The title was a pain in the ass to type. But doesn’t look very interesting. Probably won’t have yaoi. Can’t see much of a plot here…Brotherly love please!
D.C. ~Da Capo~ Ext
This proves that all anime series do not end…except for OHSHC. And Shakugan no Shana has a thrid season, by the way. Just saying…
K-On! Season 2:
Everyone knows the details of K-On!’s second season, so I don’t really need to explain nor clarify anything about it…I just had to put a picture up there to fill the endless void of text around…
Mayoi Neko Overun!:
Studio: AIC (Ah! My Goddess, Asu no Yoichi!, Candy Boy)
Official Website: Here
Trailer: Here
Air Date: April 2010
Synopsis:
The story revolves around Takumi Tsuzuki, a boy who lives with his older “sister” Otome, although the two have no blood ties between them. Otome manages a run-down confectionery store called Stray Cats. One day, Otome picks up a mysterious beautiful girl off the streets. (Via ANN)
Well, I don’t know…the art somehow appealed to me and I just got attracted to it…But why more nekos? Last year was Nyan Koi, this year was Omamori Himari, no more nekos!
Will I Review This?
I’ll try…
Kiss x Sis:
I won’t review it…but I’ll watch it…
Ikkitousen: Xtreme Xecutor:
No. Just a plain big no.
Shin Koihime Musou Otome Tairan:
“Otome Tairan”? What?
Yutori-chan:
I keep thinking of Kanamemo when I read this. Only Kana’s in middle school and works in a newspaper delivering service…but you know, the people she works with are in college and all so…yeah.
SD Gundam Sangokuden:
I never watched Gundam before and I never will. Another bland show it seems…
Bakugan Battle Brawlers New Vestroia:
Nope. Nada. Non. No-no. Zip. Zilch.
Hime Chan! Otogi Chikku Idol Lilpri:
I’m gonna cough up blood now.
Shakugan no Shana III:
I told you earlier in the post there’d be a Shakugan no Shana III, right? I remember those days when I was roaming around the Crunchyroll forums just after Shakugan no Shana II had finished. Fans were begging for more. Going crazy. And now their wish has come true. But I didn’t watch any of the seasons and I hope I get the time to. But I probably won’t…
Kuroshitsuji Second Season:
YES! I was waiting for a second season to come out! The first season made me begging for more, since it ended on such a sad note. The butler is awesome! but it isn’t coming out until July 2010 (which is the month of my birthday) and it looks like they replaced the main characters (well, that is, looking at the picture at MAL). I liked Ciel, though…
Will I Review This?
Yes…Ciel…*cries*
Final Thoughts:
This season is very…dull. I have about 6 anime that I want to watch and review, but some of the shows seem like a drag. I feel like anime is dying, slowly and quickly. Even though I think there is more anime in this Spring Season than the Winter Season, at least the winter season had some pretty good anime (Durarara!!, Baka to Test…). Hopefully the anime lineup will improve after the spring season…
